Privacy and Android

With the uprise of smart phones in general, and more specific Android phones, we as users give our most personal data to private companies like Google. Also, we carry our data with us, risking the theft of what is most precious to us: intimate photos, banking information, passwords and more.

But there are a few measures one can take to minimize the damage of theft and protect your personal data from naughty apps.

This is a series of multiple blog posts covering the following topics:

  1. The Lockscreen
  2. Device Encryption
  3. App Permissions (Work in progress)

These topics cover some general tips on how to improve the privacy of your data while still being able to use all the apps and functionalities you are used to.

Note that there is so much more you can do, but it often requires a lot of technical knowhow and some major tweaks to your device’s software, which I want to avoid here. Maybe this advanced knowledge will be covered in another post in the future, so comment below or shoot me an email if you are interested!
